Cupcake...in a Cup!

I can't believe this is a thing...

I happened to see this when I was at the supermarket, and I couldn't wait to try it! The thing about living in Korea is that you typically don't have an oven in your apartment (unless it's a family-sized place, usually), so a lot of Korean food is made for microwaves or stove-tops. I really love to bake, but it can be difficult without an oven ^^;, so I was really happy to find this!

You get two sachets inside the cup, one is the actual cake mix and the other is choco cookie chips. The only external thing you need to buy is an egg, but usually most of us have one of those lying around somewhere in our fridge, right?

Then it's just a case of mixing it all together until you get...

A Starbucks drink? Haha, it reminds me of that. Instead of drinking it though, you just pop it in the microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds, until it rises. It's quite fun to watch the cupcake coming to life so quickly inside.

And finished!

The cupcake is quite unique since it's not baked traditionally, but I liked how it was so light and fluffy. However, I recommend adding some extra chocolate on top because the taste is quite plain too. So for this I added Japanese Shimi Choco Corn (think corn puff biscuits dipped in chocolate), and it went really nicely!

If you get a chance to pick this up at the mart, I recommend it! I'd definitely like to try some other microwave cakes too~
